UvA buildings are easily accessible by public transport and bicycle. We recommend commuting by public transport or bike whenever possible.

Prefer to drive to work? You can park at public (paid) parking spaces. The exception is Hogehilweg: staff members can park there for free using their staff ID card. If you’re expecting visitors who require parking at Hogehilweg, please register them at least one week in advance using the registration form. Read more about parking at the UvA on uva.nl.

Parking for staff with a (temporary) motor disability

Some UvA locations offer designated disabled parking spaces for staff and visitors upon request. Staff members can use these spaces with a European Disability Parking Permit (GPK) or with a medical indication. Visitors must hold a valid GPK. Arrangements vary slightly per location.

  • Hogehilweg

The Hogehilweg has disabled parking spaces located underneath the building.

    • Staff members can access these spaces by presenting their employee pass.
    • Staff can register visitors who require a disabled parking space one day in advance via the registration form.

Find more details at the Hogehilweg location page on uva.nl.

  • Roeterseiland

The Roeterseiland campus offers disabled parking spaces upon request.

    • Staff with a European disabled parking card (GPK) can apply for a disabled parking space through the occupational health and safety officer. Students with a GPK can contact Student Services.
    • Staff may be eligible for a temporary parking space on medical grounds. In that case, the occupational health and safety officer will perform an assessment. Sometimes, a consultation with the company doctor may be required. More details can be found in the allocation procedure (PDF, 2 pages, in Dutch).
    • Staff can register visitors who require a disabled parking space one week in advance via the occupational health and safety officer.

Find more details in the Roeterseiland section of the location overview on uva.nl.

  • Science Park

Science Park does not have its own disabled parking spaces. However, those with a GPK may park for free in public disabled parking spaces. These are shown on the Science Park map.

  • University Quarter

The University Quarter offers 6 disabled parking spaces, located near buildings BG1 and BG2.

    • Staff can request a disabled parking space via the Facility Services Servicedesk at servicedesk-fs@uva.nl or parkeren@uva.nl.
    • No disabled parking spaces are available at other locations in the city centre.
