The BG5 building is a former monastery complex and hospital, which is still clearly evident in its layout. The building's monumental character will be largely preserved and restored. The stairwells will be restored to their original state to provide a clearer path within the building. Furthermore, all later additions to the original monument will be removed. One of the key objectives of the renovation involves replacing the pyramid with a new pavilion.

The Atrium

The current atrium, which was constructed in the 1960s, will be replaced with a new building volume, maintaining the visibility of the monument from Vendelstraat. It has been designed in a diamond shape, both to maximise sightlines to the monument behind and to fit within the agreed-upon building envelope with the municipality.

Faculty Lounge

The building's signature feature is the faculty's lounge, located next to the entrance on the ground floor. This multifunctional space can be used for gatherings and VOX-POP events. The space is separated from the atrium by a fully retractable glass wall. The pavilion on the upper floors will feature a large auditorium and a sizable educational space that can be partitioned to accommodate 60 people.
