Between 2011 and 2014, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) commissioned the construction company BAM to complete the renovation of REC BCD. Part of this renovation included the replacement of the building façade. However, after completion, leakages were identified, causing inconvenience and disruption. Since January 2024, the UvA and BAM started a pilot for restoration of the façade and continued work.
