Location AMC (Meibergdreef)

The medical faculty of the UvA is located at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. Amsterdam UMC focuses on both patient care and (medical) scientific education and research. Thousands of young individuals are trained here to become doctors, specialists, or nurses. Amsterdam UMC is among the international leaders in academic medicine. In 2018, AMC (Academic Medical Centre) and VUmc (VU Medical Centre) merged to form Amsterdam UMC.

The heart of professional practice

The UvA campus offers programs in medicine and Medical informatics. As a student, you are right in the heart of the field, surrounded by doctors, nurses, and patients. Almost all teachers are practicing doctors who regularly engage in scientific research.

Collaboration with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

The Faculty of Medicine collaborates with the nearby Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool van Amsterdam), from which hundreds of nursing students undertake internships at the AMC location. The Faculty of Health of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, provides full-time and dual nursing programmes, as well as paramedical programmes.

Medical postgraduate programmes

After successfully completing the medicine studies you can choose from various specialist postgraduate programmes. Additionally, Amsterdam UMC offers postgraduate masters in Health Informatics and Evidence-Based Practice in Health Care.
