The Science Park campus offers the greatest concentration of university science education and research in the Netherlands and is one of the largest in Europe.
The University of Amsterdam will be investing in a new building at Amsterdam Science Park, provisionally titled 942. Due to the increase in students, staff, PhD candidates and new partnerships, the existing building at Science Park 904 is no longer large enough to house the entire Faculty of Science.
The new building will feature lecture rooms, study places, research facilities, workstations, and spaces for collaboration on Artificial Intelligence (AI) with other UvA disciplines and external parties. With inviting facilities that encourage interaction, knowledge sharing and cross-pollination between scientists, students, the business sector and social partners, a unique ecosystem in the field of AI will emerge.
The ambition is to start using the building at Amsterdam Science Park in early 2021.
Amsterdam Science Park is a collaborative initiative of the University of Amsterdam, the municipality of Amsterdam and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
Renowned research institutions, university departments and around 120 companies – from start-ups to multinationals – are making the park into a hub of research, innovation and enterprise, creating an attractive potential base for companies working in ICT, Life Sciences and Advanced Instrumentation. It is a meeting place for entrepreneurs, scientists and students working in natural sciences research, ICT and Life Sciences.
