High-quality education and research

The UvA is working with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences/Hogeschool van Amsterdam (AUAS/HvA) and Academic Medical Center (AMC-UvA) to offer high-quality education and research based around the following ambitions (also see the Strategic Plan for 2007-2010): 

• Optimal study success rates and intellectual development for every student; 
• A higher position on the various leading international rankings; 
• A place in the top-3 of broad, classical universities in the Netherlands; 
• Developing Amsterdam into the largest national centre for fundamental scientific research; 
• The best research partner for businesses in the Randstad metropolitan region; 
• Close collaboration with all relevant urban and regional government and business partners (VU University Amsterdam, municipality of Amsterdam, institutes of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)/Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW)); 
• Strengthening of ties with Amsterdam's arts and culture sector;
