In the coming period, works will start to lay cables and pipes to and from LAB42. These works will include connecting LAB42 to the existing geothermal heat pump (GHP) network, laying fibre optic cables to the building and, of course, connecting the building to the sewage mains. This means that from Tuesday 16 November, work will also take place in the area outside the current construction fences as the Siers company will start laying the GHP pipes between LAB42 and the 904 building.
The work on the geothermal heat pump (GHP) network runs from phase 1 to 5.

This work will consist of fencing off the work area, removing the current paving and street furniture, digging, laying the pipes, and lastly, neatly repairing and restoring the paving. The work will be carried out in five phases, so that the 904 building will always be accessible from the side of the bicycle parking facility and Polder restaurant. Of course, any diversions routes will be signposted. The current estimate is that the work on the GHP pipes will be completed in March 2022.

At the moment, work is continuing on the complete scheduling of all earthworks that will take place outside the construction site. The plan is to combine works where possible. Therefore, the street will hopefully only have to be dug up once. Of course, any works will be communicated in advance and the aim is always to minimise disruption.

If you have any questions and/or comments about these works, the progress of the work on LAB42 or other matters, please feel free to contact the Area Manager, Simon de Roo, at omgevingsmanager-asp@uva.nl.
