At Amsterdam Science Park (ASP), scientists, students, and companies are working on the development of groundbreaking quantum technology. To facilitate knowledge exchange and innovation, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) is collaborating with quantum partners such as Quantum Delta Netherlands (QDNL) to build a dedicated home for quantum science: LABQ.

LABQ will be the location for all quantum ambitions of the Faculty of Science (FNWI) and its quantum partners. It will also create space for new collaborations, with an activities programme that will strengthen QDNL and the existing hubs in Delft, Eindhoven, Leiden, and Twente.

Positive Decision
In recent months, we have finalised the preliminary design for LABQ. The project's financial feasibility has also been assessed. This, along with the design approval, has also received a positive decision. This means the project will move to the next phase: the final design.

Timeline
We will now begin work on the final design. LABQ is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2029, with opening planned for the second quarter of 2029. As part of the planning permit (omgevingsvergunning), we are organising a drop-in information session for those in the immediate vicinity of the ASP.

Invitation: drop-in information session 15 April 2026
You are warmly invited to a meeting about LABQ. The session will take place on 15 April from 18:00 to 20:00 in room L0.11 of LAB42. During this meeting, we will inform you about the plans for LABQ. There will also be also several tables where you can find more information, for example about:

  • The design of LABQ (Roel Smit)
  • The construction timeline for LABQ (Marlies Veldman)
  • Ways to stay informed (Sophia Blom)
