In the coming month, work will be taking place at various locations on the campus: in Building A (Faculty of Law) at Roetersstraat 15, at the entrances to Buildings D-E-H, and on adjacent to the Arcadis construction site at Valckenierstraat. The work is not expected to cause significant inconvenience.

Work on Building A, Faculty of Law

Work is in full swing in the hall as well as on flooring, walls and installations on several floors of the building (air ducts, cable ducts, electrics and sprinkler system). Almost all the cast floors in the tower and on the 1st and 2nd floors are ready. In mid-February, the steel façades of the kitchenettes will be fitted and synthetic flooring applied (including in the toilet areas). Any damp in the building will be removed in good time with blasts of hot air.

How will this affect you?

Materials will be delivered and removed via Nieuwe Achtergracht, and the porter will supervise traffic safety in Roetersstraat at the sliding gate.

Zone of entrance to D-E-H

The 3rd and 4th weeks of February will see work taking place in the zone where the entrances to buildings D-E-H are located. The goods lift for suppliers will be installed on the left-hand side (against building H). A week later, the emergency doors will be moved a little to the left.

How will this affect you?

This work is not expected to cause any inconvenience. The passage will remain open.

Reduction in size of construction site at Valckenierstraat

The contractor (Arcadis) has moved to building J/K and is rearranging and reducing the construction site at Valckenierstraat. They are removing the concrete blocks along the road, and a grass-covered slope will be constructed, with steps in two places. Also, next to the current disabled parking spaces, half of the area now covered by the construction site will be covered with grass. The other half will continue to be used as a construction site for the time being. Depending on the weather (earthwork is not possible in the event of frost), this work will commence in week 5.

How will this affect you?

Passage will remain possible for all traffic. The circular route is accessible. As usual, traffic will move in a counter-clockwise direction.

Finishing of street outside J/K

In February, the street adjacent to building J/K will be finished. The concrete strips will be extended and the finished street will feature characteristic red paving stones. The barrier will be removed and replaced at a later stage with a retractable bollard.

How will this affect you?

The street will be closed for access temporarily until work has finished. Access should be restored after a week. Suppliers who need access to goods reception at UvA or to CREA will be diverted in a clockwise direction via the circular route.
