Vacant space
Since the Amsterdam Law School relocated to the Roeterseiland campus, part of the Oudemanhuispoort building has stood empty. Approval for the project was obtained in June 2018. The premises have now been refurbished. The rooms will be rented out for a temporary period: refurbishment is due to start in 2022 and, when the work is complete, the Faculty of Humanities will move into the building.
DUWO: management and rental
The rooms will be rented out by student housing provider DUWO*. The UvA and DUWO have drawn up agreements regarding management of the rooms; there will be bike parking facilities on the UvA site and student managers will ensure that the house rules are observed.
In questions from local residents,(in Dutch) with answers, you can see questions from local residents which were put to the UvA previously during residents’ evenings, together with answers and suggestions. The managers’ contact details will be shared with local residents.
Applying for the accommodation
Since DUWO is responsible for management and rental, the UvA will not be involved in the process. Students can contact DUWO via duwo.nl or apply for the accommodation when it becomes available online via room.nl.
AT5 broadcast on Oudemanhuispoort
In April 2019, Amsterdam TV station AT5 broadcast a programme about the Oudemanhuispoort building, as part of the 'De Straten van Amsterdam’ (Streets of Amsterdam) series. If you want to see what the student accommodation looks like, watch the interview with students Willem and Mike.
