What will the work involve?
How will local residents, students and staff be affected by the work?
Scaffolding erection and dismantling
Scaffolding will be erected in the Dwarsspinhuissteeg in the week of 17 August 2020. Scaffolding will also be erected on the roof and in front of the façade at the back of the building (see the image). As the scaffolding structure involved will be more complex than usual, it will take a whole working week to erect and secure. The materials and scaffolding required will be unloaded in the alley, which will continue to be accessible while the work is taking place. It is anticipated that the scaffolding will be dismantled in the week of 7 September 2020. This work will cause noise nuisance.
Work: façade, roof and casings
The replacement of casings, the removal of roof tiles, the repairs to the damage caused by wood rot and the work on the façade will all cause noise nuisance. For example, sawing, hammering and drilling and digging out old masonry.
Work will be carried out from 07.00 to 16.00.
Update working hours (added on August 10th): the contractor works half days on working days from 19 to 27 August. On these days, the working hours are from 07:00 to 11:00.
We have asked the contractor to take local residents, students and staff into consideration and keep the noise nuisance to a minimum.
