The REC-P building, located on Plantage Muidergracht, will undergo a major renovation aimed at supporting education, research and valorisation.
The building will have a flexible design so that it can continue to meet the wishes and needs of future users without requiring drastic renovations. The entrance will be relocated to create a better connection between the building and the campus, and the floors will have a new layout. The UvA is also working towards making its buildings sustainable and energy-neutral. Spaces in REC P are temporarily being rented out to 40 students and 20 start-ups on the basis of vacancy property management. Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2020 and the building is expected to be completed in Q1 of 2021.
After the renovation of REC-P, the executive staff, which are currently still based in Maagdenhuis, will move to REC P until their permanent location in the University Quarter is ready.
